Why do people reply " well we didn't catch osama bin laden ,who killed 3000 people. Saddam didn't have any thing to do with 9/11"" when repsponding to saddam's capture.

Why bring it up, if they don't have anything to do with each other.
Like that reply should take something away from capturing a genocidal mass murderer.

I do not understand. is it democrats or liberals trying to discredit the bush administration?
What is wrong with people?

While I don't agree with it, the thinking of many is that Osama killed Americans in many instances, Saddam only killed them in battle. I think most people ought to chill and all celebrate. And don't think it is just liberals that are out saying things like this, there are a lot of conservatives saying "ok we got Saddam, now lets go get Bin Laden" like he is just sitting on a tree waiting for people to pick him up. It is all posturing and politics, that is the sad thing. Neither side works as Americans anymore, they just think of themselves as a member of a party or an ideology. That is why I think the country is not doing so well right now. Good policy and good decisions are only judged in the balance of which party or politicians get the "victory" out of it. Sad way to run a country and it all came out of the last election when the country was portrayed as so 50/50 both parties decided they had to do whatever they could to break the stalemate. The American people are 50/50 on a lot of things, but both parties are thinking that we are craving a clearer outcome one way or another, but they are wrong.

Saddam had less to do with Al Qaeda than Reagan and Rumsfeld, who did in fact support Bin Laden and his group in the '80's. Saddam was a devout secularist and against the fundamentalism of Bin Laden adn Al Qaeda. Iran would be the country you might be thinking of with possible ties to Al Qaeda...and of course Saudi Arabia. Saddam was a bad guy for other reasons but claiming this as a victory in the so-called war on terror is nothing more than a bait and switch. Those sniper guys in Virginia were bad guys too but putting them in jail won't help stop Al Qaeda.

Osama will be 10 X harder to find than Saddam. look how long it took to find Saddam with tons of troops, and probably 75% of the population despised him.

I honsetly don't think we will ever find Bin Laden, no matter how many troops we have and how much money we offer.

There is no link whatsoever between Osama and Saddam, other than they both are Arab Muslims (albeit from vastly different sects. Saddam is a Sunni muslim and Bin Laden is a Wahhabi)

Saddam was the focal point of a personal vendetta by the Bushes (big and little). It was by a fortuitous coincidence that 9/11 allowed the US to justify (with hard to fathom logic) the invasion of Iraq

Is the world a better place with one less tin pot dictator? Sure it is (Hell, get rid of Robert Mugabe, Gadaffi, Kim Jong Il, Castro, etc etc while you're at it you won't find any argument here)

Was Saddam in any way linked to Al Qaeda? No, and it will be our enduring shame as a nation to have wasted American lives in the pursuit of this grotesque sham
